Chartered on February 9, 1946, the Alpha Iota Sigma Chapter—now Jacksonville Alumnae Chapter—emerged through the leadership and sponsorship of pioneering women including: Florida Cave Alexander, Lillie Belle Blackshear, Mozelle Bruton, Thelma Livingston, Willie Lee Lucas, Hazel Overstreet, and Fay Solomon.

Their vision, professionalism, and commitment to public service established a chapter that has spent eight decades advancing sisterhood, scholarship, service, and social action across Jacksonville. We are excited to celebrate this great legacy with the activities below.

  • 80 Acts of Service: A chapter-wide movement completing 80 impactful community projects, each reflecting our enduring dedication to uplift, advocate, and serve.

  • HBCU Endowment Support: JAC proudly contributes to the President’s Council HBCU Endowment Initiative, helping advance a collective goal of $100,000 for Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

  • 80th Charter Anniversary Celebration Event: On February 21, 2026 at 6 p.m., we will honor our trailblazers, celebrate our progress, and look toward a bright future—uplifting the communities we serve with purpose and pride.
